Product review: Lycogel camouflage for skin at war

Previous page Update date: 24-Nov-2011 03:52 PM Release date: 09-Nov-2011

It was the Saturday before the Melbourne cup last week when I had the ultimate beauty emergency. An allergic reaction from some medication I had been taking caused my face to puff-up, my eyes to itch and my skin to peel uncontrollably. I looked awful. When it didn’t get better on Sunday I took an antihistamine which took some of the edge off – but by Tuesday I was still peeling and looking like Kim from Kath and Kim after she had a fruit peel (in other words my face was red raw and looking like it was falling off!!).

I needed help – this was Melbourne Cup day and we were invited to one of the Ivy Pool Bar’s cabanas - I had to look my best. Luckily a few weeks earlier we had received sample of Lycogel (www.lycogel.com.au) a product that was originally developed as an effective cover-up for patients directly after cosmetic procedures such as fractional laser, skin needling and microdermabrasion.

Apparently after trying Lycogel a number of patients impressed with the results of the product continued to purchase it well after their procedure. I can understand why, the product, which is suitable for sensitive skin types such as eczema, acne and rosacea creates a “second skin”. According to the folks at Lyocogel this is due to a “Triple silica gel technology” that forms a unique “breathable” matrix.

In my case the coverage was excellent – you would have never known my skin was doing battle and with Lycogel’s strong SPF and healing qualities it made the perfect camouflauge. For those of you in need, Lycogel offers both a breathable foundation as well as concealer:

  • Lycogel Breathable Camouflage 20ml – available in 10 shades – $99.00
  • Lycogel Breathable Concealer 6ml – available in four shades – $59.00
